SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver senior midfielder Kaitlyn Glover and South Dakota State senior defender Rachel Preston earned the season’s final TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Soccer Peak Performer of the Week accolades. Glover garnered the offensive honor, while Preston collected the defensive award, league officials announced Monday.
Glover registered a pair of game-winning goals, leading the Pioneers to road wins against Oral Roberts and Kansas City and a fourth straight regular-season crown. Against the Golden Eagles, Glover scored the game-winning goal in the 14
th minute in a 5-1 win.
Against the Roos, the Englewood, Colo., native registered her second game-winner of the weekend in the 38
th minute in a 2-0 victory. She posted a career tying-high five shots against Kansas City, which were all on target, and it’s the fourth time in the last six matches in which she registered five shots.
Preston and the Jackrabbits' defense posted two road shutouts in victories over UND and NDSU to secure the No. 2 seed heading into the League tournament. The Lakeville, Minn., native played a total of 128 minutes on the pitch and produced two shots, including the conversion of a penalty kick in the 3-0 win against North Dakota.
South Dakota State held opponents to a pair of shots on goal in each win this weekend. Preston also became the program’s record holder in minutes played with 6,945 in total.
