SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Western Illinois guard Trenton Massner collected the latest TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Peak Performer of the Week award Monday, League officials announced. Massner averaged 24.0 ppg and 6.5 apg in a pair of Leatherneck victories last week.
The Wapello, Iowa native opened his week by scoring a season-high 23 points, dishing out seven assists and adding two steals in an 86-78 win over Southern Indiana. Massner went 6-for-12 from the field, including a 4-for-8 effort from beyond the arc against the Screaming Eagles.
Massner helped the Leathernecks extract revenge against UTRGV after they suffered a one-point loss to the Vaqueros earlier in the season. In this clash, he set another season-high in scoring with 25 points to go with six assists and a season-high three steals in a 90-72 victory.
Massner made four triples for the second straight game and finished 9-for-16 from the field. For the week, he shot 54 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range while going 10-for-12 from the charity stripe (83 percent).
