#SummitWSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 5

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After winning three matches last season, North Dakota State has made a case for themselves that they belong in the top of the standings as they are 4-2-2 through the final week of non-league play. They have two more non-league matches to remain near the top of the standings as they will hit the road and face Idaho on Friday and Montana on Sunday.

Oral Roberts is also having themselves quite the season as they are 4-2 and finished with six wins last season. They will look to pick up a big-time win when they visit the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa on Sunday.

South Dakota State kicks off week five by hosting Air Force followed by Omaha facing off against host Iowa State.

The Mavericks close a four-match road trip this week against Iowa State followed by their final non-league match against Air Force.

Julia Thasaphong tacked on the second goal of the season five minutes after Kitterman’s ... Louisia Ramsauer notched five saves and now has five shutouts thus far.

Sophomore midfielder Camryn Rintoul opened the scoring by drilling a long shot into the top left corner in the 47th minute for a 1-0 lead ... The Golden Eagles, who defeated the Tommies 3-0 last season in Milwaukee, answered with goals in the 61st and 68th minutes to capture the win ... The Tommies have been leading or tied in the second half of all six matches thus far this season.

South Dakota snapped its two-match losing streak with a pair of draws to close out its non-league tilt ... Against Drake, the Coyotes were able to take an early lead after cashing in their second shot of the match by way of Lexie Wood and tied the match at 2-2 in the 50th minute from Joana Zanin ... Goalkeeper Caroline Lewis played the full 90 minutes against Iowa State where she faced 22 shots and tied a season-high with six saves ... USD will have this week off before opening league play next Saturday at South Dakota State.

In SDSU’s lone match last week, the Jackrabbits played a tightly contested 1-1 draw in Brookings ... After a scoreless 45 minutes, SDSU got on the board from a pass up field from Lauren Eckerle who found Kayla Anderson in the 51st minute ... The Jackrabbits remain undefeated with the draw and improved its unbeaten streak during regular season home matches to 35 ... Through four weeks of play, SDSU leads the league in assists per game (2.71), while the sister duo of Kaycee and Karlee Manding leads the league with four assists.

Western Illinois picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 win over Northern Illinois and wasted no time scoring as Alex Bassen scored her first career goal in the second minute of play ... Her goal would set the stage in the second half, as Sydnee Sagal doubled the lead in the 57th minute ... All-League honoree Amy Andrews scored the third goal from 20 yards out and the Leathernecks finished the match with 17 total shots ... Andrews punched her fourth goal of the season against Illinois State and is now tied with three others for the top goal scorer in the league.
