SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State midfielder Katherine Jones and North Dakota State goalkeeper Abby Wilkinson were named the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Soccer Peak Performers of the Week. Jones received the offensive honor, while Wilkinson earned the defensive accolade, league officials announced Monday.
Jones tallied three total points in back-to-back home wins against Air Force and Kansas State as the Jackrabbits closed out their non-conference season. The Woodbury, Minn., native got on the board with a seventh-minute goal that proved to be the game winner in a 1-0 victory over the Falcons.
Against the Wildcats, Jones recorded an assist on a second half goal by Cece Limongi in the 65
th minute to extend SDSU’s lead to 2-0. Jones and the Jackrabbits improved their unbeaten home streak during regular season matches to 37 with the win against Kansas State.
In Wilkinson’s lone appearance of the week, the Littleton, Colo., native made a career-high 10 saves to help lead the Bison to a 0-0 tie against Idaho. Wilkinson’s shutout was her second straight clean sheet and her 10 saves were the most by a Summit League goalkeeper in a match this season.
