SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Denver remained the only unbeaten Summit League team in non-conference play thanks to a pair of impressive results on the road against Top-25 foes. A 2-0 victory at No. 9/13 Maryland and a 1-1 draw at No. 19/9 Georgetown vaulted the Pioneers past those squads in the latest national rankings. DU, who owns a 3-0-1 record, moved all the way up to No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 after being unranked to start the season and to No. 12 in the
College Soccer News poll. The top-10 ranking is the first for the program since the 2018 campaign.
The Pioneers are not the only league team carrying momentum into week No. 3. After dropping their opener, the Omaha Mavericks have gone unbeaten in their last three matches, including a 1-0 shutout over San Diego State in their latest triumph. Newcomer Mathis Pilon St-Louis had the game-winner vs. the Aztecs and shares the Division I lead with a pair of game-winning goals on the young season.
The Mavericks play host to Bradley Friday, but cannot overlook the Braves with a matchup against cross-town rival Creighton looming on Wednesday.
