SDSU's Mayo claims second TicketSmarter #SummitMBB weekly award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –
For the second time in the last four weeks, South Dakota State guard Zeke Mayo collected the TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Peak Performer of the Week award, League officials announced Monday. Mayo averaged 28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.0 apg and shot 59 percent from 3-point range in a pair of Jackrabbit home wins.

Mayo scored 31 points on 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc in Thursday’s 84-61 victory over Omaha. It marked the third time Mayo eclipsed the 30-point plateau in a game this season. He also added seven rebounds and five assists against the Mavericks.

In Saturday’s 76-61 win over Denver, Mayo scored 23 of his game-high 25 points in the first half. He buried a career-high seven 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes and finished the game with seven rebounds and five assists.

The Lawrence, Kan., native finished the two-game stretch going 13-for-22 from distance and now ranks third in scoring during Summit League play with a 19.1 ppg clip. The Jackrabbits moved into sole possession of second place in the League standings with those two victories.
