SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State guard Zeke Mayo earned the latest TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Peak Performer of the Week award, League officials announced Tuesday. Mayo averaged 22.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 3.5 apg in a pair of 71-64 victories for the Jackrabbits.
In the win over Western Illinois, Mayo scored 26 of his career-high 33 points in the second half and tallied the final 15 points of the game for SDSU in the final 5:08. That stretch included a personal 13-0 run as the Lawrence, Kan., native’s efforts erased a five-point deficit and gave SDSU its first League win of the season.
He finished 11-for-21 from the field and connected on four 3-pointers in the victory. He also added four rebounds and two assists.
Mayo followed that performance up with a double-double in SDSU’s victory over St. Thomas. He finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and dished out five assists against the Tommies.
Defensively, Mayo helped limit each opponent’s leading scorer to single digits in both contests.
