ORU's Abmas snares TicketSmarter #SummitMBB weekly award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts guard Max Abmas snared the latest TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Peak Performer of the Week award, League officials announced Monday. Abmas scored a season-high 36 points and hit a half-court shot at the buzzer to lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-0 start in League play.

After scoring just six points and seeing his team fall behind by as many as 12 in the first half, Abmas capped a 30-point second half by producing ESPN SportsCenter’s No. 2 Play of the Day at the horn to lift ORU to a 74-71 victory over Kansas City.

The Rockwall, Texas, native went 7-for-10 from the field after the break, including a 5-for-8 stretch from beyond the arc as he scored his team’s final 15 points in the closing 4:13. He went 12-for-12 from the foul line and made seven of those during that final stretch.

Abmas’ 30-plus point effort was his third of the season and 15th of his career. He also added four rebounds, four assists and a season-high four steals in what was ORU’s 10th-straight victory.

Abmas was named the CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season and third time in his career.
