2023 #SummitWSOC Championship bracket set

Denver claims sixth No. 1 seed since joining the league

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 2023 Summit League Women's Championship bracket was revealed by league officials on Tuesday evening with Denver earning the No. 1 seed after clinching the regular season title following a 3-3 draw at North Dakota on Sunday.
 
The six-team, single-elimination tournament will feature two quarterfinal matches on Friday, Oct. 27, and two semifinal contests on Sunday, Oct. 29 with the championship match being played on Saturday, Nov. 4. All five matches will be streamed on the Summit League Network.
 
This is the eighth time that the Pioneers have won at least a share of the Summit League regular season crown and enter the championship as the No. 1 seed for the fifth year in a row. Denver finished League play with a 5-1-2 ledger and a 9-2-6 overall mark. Last week, the Pioneers clinched one of the top two seeds in the Summit League Tournament, guaranteeing its spot as a host for the first weekend of the tournament and a bye into the semifinals.
 
South Dakota State earned the No. 2 seed after a 1-1 draw against Omaha on Tuesday night. SDSU joins the Pioneers as a host and will receive a bye into the semifinals with an 11-3-3 overall mark and a 4-1-3 league record.
 
Oral Roberts is the No. 3 seed after posting a 4-3-1 mark in League play under second-year head coach Austin Risenhoover. The Golden Eagles, a two-time Summit League Tournament champion, are making their 13th postseason appearance and own the tiebreaker with fourth-seeded Omaha after defeating the Mavericks, 2-1, on September 28.
 
Omaha enters the League postseason tournament as the No. 4 seed after concluding the regular season with a 1-1 tie against South Dakota State. The Mavericks, who finished League play with a 3-1-4 mark, are making their fourth straight Summit League Championship and fifth overall appearance.
 
South Dakota secured its fourth Summit League postseason berth in program history and first since the 2021 campaign. The Coyotes concluded the regular season with a 7-5-4 overall record and a 3-4-1 League record.
 
Kansas City captured the final spot in the field thanks to a scoreless draw against South Dakota State on Sunday. The Roos finished the league season 2-3-3 and is making its second postseason appearance and first since 2011.
 
In Friday’s opening quarterfinal, No. 4 Omaha plays No. 5 South Dakota in Denver at 1 p.m. MT. The second quarterfinal will be played in Brookings between No. 3 Oral Roberts taking on No. 6 Kansas City at 4 p.m. CT. The winner of Friday’s first match will take on top-seeded Denver at 1 p.m. MT on Sunday, Oct. 29 in the first of two semifinal matches. The other semifinal contest will pit No. 2 seed South Dakota State against the winner of Friday’s No. 3 vs. No. 6 contest at 1 p.m. CT.
 
The winners of the semifinal matches will vie for the League championship title on Saturday, Nov. 4, with the highest remaining seed hosting the match. The winner will be crowned the 2023 Summit League women’s soccer champions and earn and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
