SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kansas City goalkeeper Riley Moore and Omaha midfielder Alyssa Kellar earned the final TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Peak Performers of the Week honors of the regular season, league officials announced Monday.
Moore made sure the Roos returned to the Summit League Tournament for the first time since 2011 by registering back-to-back shutouts in the final week of the season. The Linden, Mich., native made two saves in a 2-0 win over South Dakota Thursday.
The junior transfer from Bowling Green then backed that up with five saves in a 0-0 draw with South Dakota State in KC’s regular season finale Sunday. Those four points helped Kansas City secure the final spot in the six-team field.
Kellar put together her best offensive performance of the season in a 4-0 win over St. Thomas as she contributed to all four of those tallies. She assisted on the first and third goals and scored the second and fourth ones as the Mavericks blanked the Tommies.
The brace and the two-assist match were both the first of Kellar’s career. The Treynor, Iowa native then scored the equalizer in the 66
th minute of a 1-1 draw with South Dakota State.
Kellar played a part in all five goals for the Mavericks as they finished in a tie for third in the League standings with 13 points and a 3-1-4 record.
