KC’s Green, DU’s Ofunrein earn September TicketSmarter Peak Performer of the Month honors

Green and Ofunrein put together solid season-opening stretches for their respective squads

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Kansas City's Leah Green and Denver's Oje Ofunrein claimed the TicketSmarter Peak Performer of the Month honors for September, league officials announced Wednesday.

Green, a defensive specialist for the Roos, has already been named the TicketSmarter Peak Defensive Performer of the Week three times in the opening six weeks of the volleyball season.

Her efforts have the Roos off to a 13-3 start on the season, including a perfect 4-0 run to open league play. Green has double-digit digs in all 16 of the Roos matches this season, including 10 with 20-plus and two with 30-plus totals.

The Fate, Texas native had a season-high 34 in a win over UT-Martin on Sept. 2 and 30 in a five-set win over South Dakota State. Green is currently pacing all Summit League players with 325 digs and a 5.0 digs per set average.

Ofunrein logged a Summit League-best eight goals as Denver opened the campaign with a 5-2-4 record and 1-0-1 mark in league play. His eight goals are tied for sixth most in the country and he ranks second nationally in game-winning goals with four.

The Round Rock, Texas native had his first career brace in a win over nationally-ranked SMU, who is currently No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Ofunrein netted a pair of first-half goals against the Mustangs in the 3-1 victory. He would be named the NCAA Digital National Player of the Week for his efforts.

Ofunrein added his first career hat trick later in the month scoring three times in a 4-0 victory over UC San Diego. He currently leads the Summit League with 18 points and had one of his two assists in the Pioneers' Summit League opener – a 2-0 victory at St. Thomas.
