2023 #SummitMSOC Championship Bracket Set

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 2023 Summit League Men's Championship bracket was released by league officials on Saturday with regular season champion Denver securing the No. 1 seed after clinching its ninth regular season title in the last 11 years. The Pioneers will be joined in the four-team field by tournament host Oral Roberts, Omaha and Kansas City for the third consecutive season.

Denver will play No. 4 seed Kansas City in the opening semifinal of the event slated for Nov. 9 and 11 at the Case Soccer Complex in Tulsa, Okla. The Pioneers and Roos will kickoff Thursday at 3 p.m. CT in a rematch of last year’s title game won 3-0 by DU on its home field.

The Pioneers clinched the outright title a week ago with a 1-0 win at Oral Roberts and finished off the regular season Saturday with a 2-0 victory over the Roos. The Pioneers finished unbeaten in league play for the second consecutive season with a 7-0-1 mark and 22 points.

The Golden Eagles earned the No. 2 seed after compiling a 5-1-2 league record with 17 points in league play. ORU tallied its fifth win Saturday on the road at Omaha with a 3-0 victory over the Mavericks, who will be the No. 3 seed. Those two teams will meet in Thursday’s second semifinal at 7 p.m. CT.

Both semifinal matches and Saturday’s title match at 2 p.m. CT will be streamed on the Summit League Network. Fans can find out more information about this service by visiting SummitLeagueNetwork.TV.

Since joining the League prior to the 2013-14 academic year, DU has won eight of the last nine postseason tournaments, including last year’s when the Pioneers advanced past Omaha in the semifinals and knocked off No. 4 seed Kansas City 3-0 in the title game.

Omaha will be on the same seed line for the third straight year after finishing the regular season at 3-3-2 in league play and with 11 points under second-year head coach Donovan Dowling.

Kansas City earned the final berth thanks to a 1-0 victory over St. Thomas last Saturday and finished the regular season with a 2-3-3 league mark and seven points in league play.

The Golden Eagles are looking for their first tournament title since 1999. ORU was the runner-up in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2020.

The Mavericks won their only postseason title via a penalty shootout in 2017 (9-8), while Kansas City is 3-4 all-time in tournament title matches and last hoisted the trophy in 2008.
