Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Kansas City is among a group of four Summit League teams that will take multiple-game winning streaks into action starting Wednesday. The Roos have reeled off three consecutive wins thanks to the emergence of freshman Emani Bennett, who is averaging 13.7 ppg since moving into the starting lineup six games ago.
Bennett equaled her season-high with 20 in KC's latest win -- a 68-60 victory over former Summit League foe Western Illinois. The Roos can stretch that streak to four when Alabama A&M pays a visit to the Sweeney Center on Thursday.
South Dakota owns the longest winning streak in the League at four, while South Dakota State and St. Thomas have both won back-to-back games. The Coyotes have Mount Marty next up on their slate, while the Jackrabbits are poised to face their third top-25 opponent of the season when they visit (21/21) Gonzaga. The Bulldogs are the top-ranked team in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, while SDSU was slotted in the No. 5 spot this week.
For the Tommies, those two wins came on the road and sophomore Amber Scalia was a big reason why, averaging 20.0 ppg in triumphs over Milwaukee and Purdue Fort Wayne. Scalia is now the top-ranked scorer in the League, averaging 17.2 ppg after scoring 4.5 ppg in 28 games as a rookie.
