SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – In a little over two weeks our 10 teams will tip off in Sioux Falls, S.D., for the 2023 Summit League Women’s Basketball Championship. A peek at the standings shows ties scattered throughout making this week critical for some of our teams to help solidify their seed in the championship.
The number one seed at the tournament is locked in after South Dakota State clinched sole possession of the Summit League regular season title last Saturday with a 79-48 victory over South Dakota. The 2022-23 crown makes it the ninth regular season title since officially joining the League in 2007-08 and the fourth time in the last five years.
League play picks back up Thursday with eight of our 10 teams suiting up. All four games will tip off at 7 p.m. CT.

The Pioneers moved to 6-7 in League play after splitting last week’s competition ... Against the Fighting Hawks, three paced the way in scoring for the Pioneers led by Emily Counsel who finished with 15 points, three rebounds and a pair of steals ... Emma Smith followed with 13 points and six rebounds while Ally Haar chipped in 10 points and four assists ... Makayla Minett once again led the defensive efforts for the Pios as she pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds to go along with seven points ... Smith and Angelina Robles put together career-high 20-plus point performances to help propel Denver to a victory over the Bison ... Smith finished with 27 points on 8-for-11 shooting while also pulling down five rebounds, dishing out three assists and stealing two balls ... Robles came off the bench and dropped 20 points including going 7-for-8 from the charity stripe ... Mikayla Brandon rounded out the double-figure scorers contributing 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists ... Minett notched eight points, six rebounds and a game-high five blocks.

In the loss to Western Illinois, Machia Mullens and Manna Mensah led the Roos finishing with 13 points apiece ... Defensively, Mullens recorded six rebounds, a block and a steal ... Mensah finished with seven rebounds and a steal ... Tamia Ugass led the defensive efforts with a game-high-tying 13 rebounds and three blocks ... Against St. Thomas, Mensah led the Roos with 22 points to go along with five rebounds ... Ugass was a force on both ends as she finished with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Juliet Gordon led with a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds good for her third double-double of the season ... Claire Orth followed with 15 points, four rebounds and a team-best three steals ... Kacie Borowicz rounded out the trio with 12 points and a game-high five assists ... Against Omaha, Borowicz poured 24 points, four assists and three steals to lead UND to victory ... Maggie Manson was the only other Fighting Hawk in double figures for points as she went 4-for-5 from the three-point line good for 12 points ... Gordon led the defensive end with seven rebounds to go along with nine points and a pair of assists.

She was 7-for-14 from the field, stole the ball twice, blocked a shot and dished out an assist in the loss ... Heaven Hamling was the only other Bison to finish with double-digits in the scoring column ... She finished with 10 points to go along with six rebounds, five steals and four assists ... Hamling carried the momentum against Denver as she led four Bison in double-figure scoring with 14 points ... Abby Graham came off the bench and chipped in 12 points and five rebounds ... Kristina Ekofo Yomane and Evans each finished with 10 points apiece ... Defensively, Ekofo Yomane grabbed a team-best six rebounds and stole the ball once.

St. Thomas picked up two wins last week to move the Tommies to 5-10 in League play … They completed their first Summit League road sweep since joining the conference a year ago ... In the five-point victory over Oral Roberts, Jo Langbehn paced the Tommie offensive going 8-for-11 from the floor en route to 19 points ... Jade Hill and Faith Feuerbach followed each chipping in 12 points of their own ... Hill also added a game-best nine assists and six rebounds to her stat line ... Maggie Negaard rounded out the double-figure offensive effort with 10 points to go along with six rebounds ... Langbehn carried the offensive momentum against Kansas City as she scored a career-high 29 on 12-for-16 shooting from the field ... Hill was the only other Tommie to finish with double-digits as she went 7-for-14 from the floor good for 17 points ... She also dished out a game-best seven assists and pulled down three rebounds ... Jordyn Glynn led the defensive effort for the Tommie with nine rebounds and nine points.

It was also the first win in Vermillion in nine years, ending a seven-game losing streak for the Jackrabbits ... Four Jackrabbits finished with double-digits in scoring led by Paige Meyer ... She was 5-for-8 from the floor including three three-pointers to finish with 14 points ... Haleigh Timmer and Brooklyn Meyer followed each finishing with 12 points ... Paiton Burckhard rounded out the four with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists ... Kallie Theisen led defensively with nine rebounds to go with six points and four assists ...
