SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State forward Grant Nelson claimed the latest TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Peak Performer of the Week award, League officials announced Monday. Nelson posted a pair of double-doubles, averaging 23.0 ppg, 13.0 rpg, and 3.0 bpg in a road split for the Bison as he picked up the first weekly honor of his career.
Nelson opened the week by scoring 22 points, pulling down 14 rebounds and blocking a career-high five shots in a road win at Kansas City. The Devils Lake, N.D., native registered seven offensive rebounds to help post his League-leading eighth double-double of the season.
Nelson recorded his ninth in NDSU’s next outing at Oral Roberts to push his streak of consecutive games with a double-double to six in a 74-66 loss to the League-leading Golden Eagles. He finished with 24 points on 11-of-19 shooting and added a game-high 12 rebounds to go with three steals.
Nelson is now averaging a double-double in Summit League, scoring at 19.8 ppg clip (fourth) and leading the way with 10.1 rpg against League foes.
