SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha forward Frankie Fidler garnered his second TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor of the season, League officials announced Monday. Fidler earned his second honor in the last three weeks after leading Omaha to a pair of home wins in Summit League play, vaulting the Mavericks into a tie for first place in the standings.
The Omaha, Neb., native scored 29 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out a season-high six assists in the Mavericks’ 79-61 win over North Dakota. He also went 18-for-20 from the charity stripe against the Fighting Hawks. Those 18 makes were the second most by a Division I player in a game this season.
In Omaha’s 96-92 overtime win against North Dakota State, Fidler registered season-highs with 34 points and 12 rebounds to post his second double-double of the season. He went 11-for-19 from the field, including a 4-for-6 effort from 3-point territory.
Fidler made a key 3-point play with 1:09 left in regulation to help the Mavericks erase a nine-point, second-half deficit and help force the extra session. He opened overtime with a 3-pointer and went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the closing minute to help seal the win.
For the week, Fidler went 26-for-29 from the foul line (89.7) percent and continues to lead all Summit League players in that category with a 87.5 percent clip on the season.
