SDSU's Mayo garners TicketSmarter #SummitMBB weekly award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State Zeke Mayo snagged the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor of the season, League officials announced Monday. The weekly honor is the first of Mayo’s season and fourth of his career.

Mayo produced a pair of 20-plus point performances in back-to-back victories, leading South Dakota State into sole possession of first place in the Summit League standings. The League’s preseason player of the year also averaged 5.5 rpg, 4.0 apg and made four 3-pointers in both victories at home over Omaha and on the road at in-state rival South Dakota.

In the victory over the Mavericks, Mayo scored 21 points and pulled down five boards while shooting 7-for-13 from the field, which included a 4-for-7 effort from beyond the arc.

The Lawrence, Kan., native then added 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in the win over the Coyotes. He added four more 3-pointers on nine attempts and now has 10 20-plus point scoring games on the season, including five in his last seven games.

• Averaged 20.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 4.0 apg in two Summit League wins to push SDSU’s record to 4-1
• Scored a game-high 21 points to go with five rebounds in 90-87 home win over Omaha
• Added another game-high scoring effort with 20 points to go with six rebounds in 73-55 win at USD
• Finished the week 8-for-16 from beyond the arc and is now shooting 15-for-32 (46.9 percent) from deep in League play
