SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – With two weeks to play in the regular season, South Dakota State, Omaha, Denver and North Dakota State are currently in a four-way tie with 10 points. The Jackrabbits have played one less game and own a 3-0-1 record going into a Thursday match at NDSU. The Bison, Mavericks and Pioneers each own a ledger of 3-1-1
Following behind the four-way tie are the Golden Eagles with a 2-1-1 record and seven points as well as the Coyotes with five points and a 1-1-2 record. Kansas City made their way up from the bottom and tail South Dakota by two points and a 1-4 record. North Dakota is a point shy of Kansas City with a 0-3-2 record.
The Tommies are currently at the bottom of the standings with a ledger of 0-4-1 and one point.
Around The League
• North Dakota State took down Oral Roberts in a 2-1 battle to move the Bison to the top of the standings. The Golden Eagles are just behind the leading quartet with a 2-1-1 mark and seven points in league play.
• Bison freshman Morgan Russmann scored her third goal of league play and sixth of the season in a win over ORU.
• The Coyotes pulled out a 1-1 draw with their in-state rival SDSU this past Friday. USD goalkeeper Cambell Fischer held off the Jackrabbits with seven saves and only one goal allowed.
• SDSU forward Katelyn Beulke tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the draw.
• Omaha collected its second and third consecutive shutouts in a row. The Mavericks took down the Fighting Hawks and the Tommies each by the score of 1-0.
• While celebrating senior day, senior Meg Nemnich also scored her first career goal in the 17th minute with an assist from fellow senior Marissa Gohr.
• Omaha keeper Maja Baun logged a career-high of nine saves in the win over the Tommies.
• Gohr's assist in the 17th minute equaled her career high of four that she set a season ago.
• Denver won both its matches last week, knocking off the Tommies, 3-1, and the Bison, 2-1.
• Senior Ella Frost scored three goals, including both game-winners. She also had her second career brace in the win over NDSU. Frost scored her first goal of the game in the 34th minute and then secured the win with a successful penalty kick in the 80th minute.
• Oral Roberts' Alani Chaple scored her first career goal in the 50th minute but the Golden Eagles could not make that goal stand up.
• Kansas City rallied for a 3-2 win over North Dakota to move them up in the standings. The Roos secured their first win in league play by taking over the second half of the game.
• KC's Adriana Benassi scored her team-high fifth goal of the season, while Lily Stedman also recorded a goal and an assist on the game-winner by Brianna Castleberry.
• The Fighting Hawks started off strong against the Roos with Kaylie Fowler scoring in the 16th minute and Amelia Loeffler following in the 23rd minute as both players put away their fourth goals of the season.
• Fighting Hawks freshman keeper Gracie Miller made the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Freshmen rankings. She was one of eleven goalkeepers to make the list released last week.
