#SummitWSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 8

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After the first week of league competition, Denver, Oral Roberts and North Dakota State lead the standings with a record of 1-0-1 and four points each. South Dakota State, who only played once, is close behind with three points and a record of 1-0.
 
The Fighting Hawks follow after the Jackrabbits with a 0-0-2 record and two points with the Mavericks, Tommies, and Coyotes following with a 0-1-1 record and one point a piece.

The Roos are currently at the bottom of the standings with a 0-2 record.

Around The League
• The Pioneers opened up league play against the Roos coming up victorious 3-1. DU’s Ella Frost and Megan Murray each scored in the victory, joining their teammate Liv Moritz with four goals on the season.
• Oral Roberts staged a late rally to earn a 2-2 draw with North Dakota, scoring twice in the final three minutes of play. The Golden Eagles made their 17th minute goal stand up against St. Thomas as they held the Tommies scoreless the rest of the match.
• Samantha Guzman scored all three goals for the Golden Eagles. She came up clutch against the Fighting Hawks, scoring in the 87th minute and followed that tally with goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute to secure the tie.
• The Bison came out strong during their first league matchup against Omaha, when Morgan Russman scored her fourth goal of the season in the 12th minute. NDSU made that goal hold up all the way until the 90th minute when the Mavericks found the equalizer on a header from Alyssa Kellar to earn the draw.
• The Jackrabbits opened league play by taking down the Mavericks 4-1 and handing that squad its first home loss of the season. Senior Laney Murdzek earned her first career brace in the matching, scoring in 48th minute and capping the scoring in the 90th minute. SDSU is 7-0-1 in its last eight matches.
• UND bounced back from surrendering those two late goals at ORU by battling Denver to a 0-0 draw. Fighting Hawk goalkeeper Grace Miller combined for 19 saves in those two draws, while the Fighting Hawks earned their first result against the Pioneers in program history.
•The Tommies were able to log their fourth clean sheet of the season with a 0-0 draw against the Coyotes in their league opener before falling 1-0 to the visiting Golden Eagles.  
• South Dakota had four shots on target in its lone match of the week at UST with Sam Luft putting both of her shots on frame.
