SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State outside hitter Sylvie Zgonc and South Dakota libero Kamryn Farris were named the Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week, respectively, league officials announced on Tuesday.
Zgonc, who earned her third career offensive award, totaled 49 kills, 23 digs, and seven total blocks as the Jackrabbits went 2-0 during the fifth week of conference play.
The Hartford, Wis., native recorded back-to-back matches with double digit kills. Zgonc garnered 24 kills, 13 digs, four total blocks, and was responsible for 27.5 points in a five-set win over South Dakota.
The Jackrabbit sophomore then registered 25 kills, 10 digs, and 27.5 points in a four-set victory over Denver. Her 49 total kills in two games were the most by a Summit League player in any combined two games last week.
Farris, who earned her first weekly award of the season, totaled 71 digs, 19 assists, and four service aces as the Coyotes went 2-1 to improve to 7-3 overall in Summit action.
The Lansing, Kan., native recorded three matches with at least 20 digs. Farris garnered 22 digs, five assists, and one service ace during the Coyotes’ five-set loss at South Dakota State.
The Coyote junior then registered 21 digs, five assists, and one service ace in a four-set victory over Denver. Farris then had her best outing of the week producing 28 digs, nine assists, and two service aces in a four-set victory over Kansas City.
