#SummitVB Weekly Notebook No.7

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State looks to continue their undefeated season after starting the season 14-0. The Jackrabbits face the Mavericks Thursday night in a battle between the only two undefeated teams in Summit League play. The Mavericks lead the conference in points per set (18.60), opponent hitting percentage (.113), hitting percentage (.273), kills per set (14.50), and blocks per set (3.10). 

St. Thomas is coming off a two-game winning streak with wins over reigning conference champions Kansas City and South Dakota.  North Dakota State is sitting at 2-1 in conference play following a five-set loss to Oral Roberts.  South Dakota is sitting at .500 with 2-2 ledgers and have been led statically by Avery Van Hook. 
 
Kansas City fell to 1-2 in conference play, but Kaia Dunford continues to be a bright spot for the Roos. Dunford leads the Summit in kills per set (4.92) and total kills (64) while also being ranked nationally (6th) in attacks per set. 
 
North Dakota, Denver, and Oral Roberts are all 1-3 with home games looming on the horizon. 

It’s going to be an exciting third week of league action and it all unfolds with a quartet of matches on Thursday, all starting at 7 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network.

Around The League
• St. Thomas won both of its matches last week, while North Dakota, North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, Omaha, South Dakota State, and Denver each won a single match. 
• The Tommies took down two reigning conference champions in Kansas City and South Dakota behind a balanced team effort.
• SDSU continued its undefeated streak, earning a win over Kansas City to improve to 14-0 overall. SDSU is hitting a league-best .249 as a team and hit .244 in the win over Kansas City.
• The Jackrabbits are one of two Division I teams that remain unbeaten through the first six weeks of the season.
• South Dakota had four players tally double-digit kills in a 3-1 loss to Omaha. Kamryn Farris garnered 19 kills, Lauren Medeck contributed 15 kills, Cora Hokenstad produced 11, and Avery Van Hook tallied 10.  
• NDSU ranks 11th in the NCAA with 2.08 aces per set and Baily Randall leads all Summit League players with 1.08 aces per set. 
• North Dakota junior Izzie McCormick led the Fighting Hawks with 41 digs in a 1-1 week as the Fighting Hawks split a pair of five-set matches, beating Oral Roberts and falling to Denver.
• Kansas City’s Kaia Dunford leads the Summit in total kills (64) and kills per set (4.92) in league play.  Dunford totaled 29 kills during a week that saw the Roos go 0-2 against South Dakota State and St. Thomas. 
• Denver graduate senior Cassie Davis accumulated 27 kills in a 3-2 win over North Dakota.
• Omaha’s McKenna Ruch sits at 999 career kills following the Mavericks win over South Dakota to join SDSU as the only remaining unbeatens in league play as both own 3-0 records.
• The Mavericks are set to host the Jackrabbits this Thursday in Omaha.
 • Oral Roberts outside hitter Trinity Freeman garnered her 60th match with 10+ kills as a Golden Eagle.
