SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State senior Oscar Cluff garnered the season’s first Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor, League officials announced Monday. Cluff posted back-to-back double-doubles in season-opening wins over Murray State and Long Beach State.
In the season opener vs. the Cowboys, a 30-win NCAA Tournament participant a season ago, Cluff scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Jacks pulled away late for an 80-73 win in the Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase Classic. He went 6-for-10 from the field and grabbed five offensive boards, while adding a steal and a block on the defensive end.
In SDSU’s home debut at First Bank & Trust Arena, the Sunshine Coast, Australia, native scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds again to lead the Jackrabbits to an 80-79 victory over Long Beach State. The Washington State transfer went 7-for-12 from the field and his three-point play with 1.5 seconds left proved to be the game-winner as SDSU improved to 2-0 on the young season.
