Jackrabbits claim top seed for #SummitVB Championship

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The 2024 Summit League Volleyball Championship bracket was revealed by league officials Tuesday with South Dakota State earning the No. 1 seed after clinching its second regular season title during the program’s Division I era. The Jackrabbits (26-1, 15-1 SL) secured the crown last week and have won four straight matches after starting the season 22-0.

As the top seed, SDSU earns a first-round bye and will face the winner of the No. 4 North Dakota State (12-13, 8-8 SL) vs. No. 5 Denver (12-14,7-9 SL) match Monday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. CT. The Bison and the Pioneers open the Summit League Championship on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m.

Denver has won five of the last nine tournament titles while North Dakota State will be seeking its fourth tournament crown.

Reigning Summit League champion Omaha (16-11, 14-2 SL) will be joining the Jackrabbits with a first-round bye after clinching the No. 2 seed. The Mavericks will be making their eighth consecutive appearance and ninth overall in the championship and take the court for the first time in Monday’s second semifinal at 7 p.m. CT.

The Mavericks will play the winner of the match between No. 3 South Dakota (18-9, 10-6 SL) and No. 6 Kansas City (6-21, 4-12 SL) that will take place Sunday at 6 p.m. CT. The Coyotes are making their 12th straight appearance in the championship and have won four of the last seven postseason events while the Roos are back for the second straight year and hosting the event for the first time.

The winners of Monday’s semifinal matches will play in Tuesday’s championship match at 7 p.m. CT with the champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Quarterfinals, semifinals and championship matches will be streamed on the Summit League Network.
