SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha senior forward Marquel Sutton garnered the latest Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor, League officials announced Monday. Eaglestaff averaged 20.5 ppg as he racked up his fourth career weekly honor and first of the season. Sutton averaged a double-double en route to earning a spot on the Akron Basketball Classic All-Tournament Team.
The Tulsa, Okla., native opened the multi-team event with a 22-point, 14-rebound double-double against Alabama State. His 14 boards were a new career-high.
Sutton followed that up with a season-high 26-point outing against the host Zips and added six rebounds and three assists in a 92-84 loss.
He closed out the weekend with his second double-double in Ohio, leading the Mavericks to a 65-59 win over Lamar in the finale. Sutton scored 13 points to go with 10 rebounds against the Cardinals.
For the tournament, averaged 20.3 ppg and 10.0 rpg, while shooting 59 percent from the field, 45 percent from 3-point range and 88 percent from the foul stripe.
