USD's Forte, NDSU's Moni share #SummitMBB weekly honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota guard Chase Forte and North Dakota State forward Jacksen Moni shared the latest Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor of the season, League officials announced Monday. Moni averaged 22.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 4.0 apg during a 3-0 week for the Bison, while Forte averaged 23.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 5.0 ppg in a 2-0 week for the Coyotes.

In NDSU’s 71-68 win at Butler, Moni scored eight straight points for the Bison to erase a five-point deficit in the closing 2:25 and lift the program to its first win over a Big East-foe since 2006-07 season. The graduate transfer finished with 25 points, seven rebounds and three assists against the Bulldogs.

After going for 25 points again in a home win over Wisconsin-Stout, Moni added 16 points and a season-high seven assists in a 98-62 win over Western Michigan as the Bison won their seventh straight game. The Fargo, N.D., native combined to go 10-for-20 from beyond the arc in the three victories and shoot 57 percent overall for the week.

Forte led the Coyotes in scoring in both victories last week, matching his career-high with 25 against Wyoming and adding 21 in a blowout of former Summit League-foe Western Illinois. His pair of 20-plus point scoring outings pushed his season total to a team-best five.

The Raleigh, N.C., native went 8-for-14 from the field and dished out five assists in the 82-81 victory over the Cowboys. He also made eight field goals and distributed five more assists in the 23-point win over the Leathernecks that pushed the Coyotes’ record to 9-4.
