UND's Eaglestaff snares #SummitMBB weekly honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota guard Treysen Eaglestaff collected the latest Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor of the season, League officials announced Monday. Eaglestaff earned the weekly honor for the second time this season and fifth time in his career.

Eaglestaff earned his latest honor after scoring a career-high 40 points and making a career-high eight 3-pointers in a 97-90 loss to (6/7) Alabama. The Bismarck native scored 24 second-half points as he became just the fifth Division I player this season to reach the 40-point plateau in a game.

Eaglestaff’s final triple of the night trimmed the Crimson Tide’s lead to 91-88 with 21 seconds to play. He finished 15-for-30 from the floor. His 40 points also landed right on the 1,000-point milestone for his career.

According to ESPN, he became the first mid-major player to score 40 points against an Associated Press Top 10 opponent since 2012 and is just the second Fighting Hawk during the program’s DI era to reach that threshold.

Eaglestaff closed out the week with a 19-point outing in an 80-48 win over South Dakota School of Mines. He went 9-for-15 from the field and added four rebounds and two assists.
