SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Year two of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge is officially underway with nine contests today and another nine scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7.
Oral Roberts kicked off year two at 1 p.m. CT today as they traveled to Northern Arizona to match up against the Big Sky’s preseason favorite Lumberjacks.
Today’s nine games and Saturday's nine games will all be streamed by each conferences' digital partner. The Summit League home games will be streamed on the
Summit League Network, while the Big Sky home games will be streamed on
ESPN+.
Both conference's men's and women's basketball programs are competing in a total of 36 games with a trophy being awarded to the conference with the most points. Home wins are worth a single point, while road wins are worth 1.5 points.

Big Sky-Summit Challenge
The Summit League secured the inaugural Big Sky-Summit Challenge trophy after winning the first tiebreaker with a 2,654-2,552 advantage in total points scored over the 36 games played between the two genders. The first tiebreaker decided the champion after the conferences each amassed 21.5 points in the weighted-scoring system.
This year’s challenge kicks off today and goes through Saturday, Dec. 7.
2025 Basketball Championships
The 2025 #SummitWBB Championship will be held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center once again. All nine members will be part of the field for the event that will be held March 5-9 in Sioux Falls. The opening round will feature matchups between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for both genders and start on Wednesday with both title games set for Sunday on CBS Sports Network. AROUND THE LEAGUE
- Oral Roberts is headed into the Big Sky-Summit Challenge riding a four-game win streak. With a 5-1 record, the Golden Eagles are receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll for the second consecutive week.
- Omaha has moved to 4-4 on the season with a three-game winning streak heading into the week. Over the holiday break the Mavericks traveled to San Diego to play in the USD Thanksgiving Classic and picked up wins over San Diego (70-66) and Utah Valley (53-48).
- Ja Harvey led the Mavericks at the classic averaging 10.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.5 apg, and 2.0 spg. Highlighting her efforts was a 14-point, six-rebound performance against San Diego. She also dished out a pair of steals, blocked a shot and stole the ball once in the win.
- Denver put one more tally in the win column after defeating UC Irvine 60-50. Jordan Jones was one of three Pioneers to finish in double-figures in the win. She finished with a full stat line of 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.
- St. Thomas picked up a 75-71 win over UIC to move to 6-2 on the season. Five Tommies saw double figures in the points column with the efforts led by Sammy Opichka. Opichka was 10-for-15 from the floor for 22 points while pulling down a team-leading seven rebounds in the win.
- South Dakota State moved to 5-2 on the season after picking a 63-55 win over (RV) Ball State. With the win, the Jackrabbits are once again receiving votes in both AP and WBCA/USA Today Coaches polls. They also took over the No. 1 ranking in the CollegeInsiders.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll and are receiving 12 first-place votes.
- Freshman Katie Vasecka was one of two Jackrabbits to finish with double-figure points against Ball State. She came off the bench and dropped a career-high 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field while hitting all three 3-point attempts. She also tallied three rebounds, an assist and a block.
- North Dakota State went 1-1 last week picking up a win over College of Charleston (72-59) and a loss to Charleston Southern (67-60). Molly Lenz led the Bison averaging a team-high 13.0 ppg and 2.5 rpg while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from behind the arc.
- Kansas City is now 3-5 on the season after defeating UT Dallas 94-60. Five Roos scored 10-plus points in the win with Emani Bennett leading the charge. She finished with 15 points and seven rebounds in the victory.
- The Coyotes split the competition at the Music City Classic picking up a win over Dayton (79-69) and a loss to Arizona State (95-88). Grace Larkins, the latest Peak Performer, paced the pack of Coyotes at the classic. She averaged 31.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 6.5 apg to pick up an all-tournament nod.
- North Dakota is 2-5 after suffering losses to Valparaiso (76-57) and Marist (60-56) at the Christmas City Classic. Walker Demers led the Fighting Hawks with 14 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 1.5 spg. Demers efforts earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.
