SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State guard Zeke Mayo garnered the final TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor of the season, League officials announced Monday. The weekly honor is the second of Mayo’s season and fifth of his career.
Mayo averaged 22.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.0 apg and 2.0 spg as the Jackrabbits won a pair of road games to win their fifth regular season title in the last six seasons.
The Lawrence, Kan., closed out a 7-0 run with a steal and three-point play to end the first half at UND and trim what was a 10-point deficit down to three at the break. He scored 16 second-half points as the Jackrabbits outscored the Fighting Hawks 42-29 after halftime to claim the outright regular season title.
Mayo added 19 points and five rebounds to close out the regular season in SDSU’s 78-61 win at North Dakota State.
He finished shooting 62 percent (18-for-29) from the field, including an 8-for-14 effort from beyond the arc in the two victories.
