SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver midfielder Michaela McGowan and South Dakota State defender Katherine Jones were named the Summit League Women’s Soccer Peak Performers of the Week following the second week of the 2024 season. McGowan collected the offensive accolade, while Jones earned the defensive honor, league officials announced Monday.
 
McGowan finished the weekend with a goal and four assists as Denver upset No. 24 Texas A&M 3-2 and blanked Lamar 3-0. In the win over the Aggies, the sophomore put DU on the board in the 29^th minute to square things at 1-1, then assisted on the Pios’ remaining two goals, including the game-winner in the 53^rd minute.

After a scoreless first half against Lamar, McGowan assisted on DU’s first two goals right after the break as DU scored all three of its goals after the break.
 
Jones was a standout on the back line for the Jackrabbits during their two shutout-victories last week over Northern Colorado and Wyoming. The graduate student also provided an assist in each of the wins over the Bears and Cowgirls.
