#SummitWSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 3

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League women's soccer programs came up victorious with 11 wins during the second week of the season, highlighted by Denver’s 3-2 victory over No. 24 Texas A&M. The Pioneers along with Kansas City, North Dakota, and North Dakota State won both of their matchups last week.

The Bison remained unbeaten and lead all League teams with 10 points. The Fighting Hawks, the Roos and Omaha are all close behind with eight points and 2-0-2 records.

• Denver vaulted into the United Soccer Coaches Top 10 West Region rankings this week at the No. 5 spot, while Omaha climbed up two spots to seventh. After being ranked ninth last week, the Mavericks earned a bump thanks to a 1-0-1 stretch at Utah Tech and Southern Utah.
• Denver sophomore Michaela McGowan was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Women’s National Team of the Week after a standout performance. In two games, McGowan logged a goal and four assists, including a goal and two assists in DU’s win at No. 24 Texas A&M.
• Denver freshman Megan Murray scored her first collegiate goal in the Pioneers’ upset over the Aggies, accounting for the game-winner. Murray also had the game-winning goal in DU’s win at Lamar.
• Seven different Fighting Hawks scored a goal apiece in North Dakota’s 7-0 shutout of Alabama State. Six of those goals came in the opening 45 minutes of play.
• Kaylie Fowler scored the game-winning goal in both of UND’s victories so far this season.
• North Dakota State’s Devon Kavanaugh joins Murray and Fowler with a pair of game-winning goals early in the season. Her latest came in a 1-0 win at Hawaii Pacific Tuesday.
