SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Thomas outside hitter Lauren Galvin and libero Ella Voegele were named the Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week, respectively, league officials announced on Tuesday. It marks the first time the Tommies swept the weekly awards since joining the League prior to the 2021 season.
Galvin was named to the Tommie Invitational All-Tournament Team and totaled 48 kills, 4.00 kills per set, and recorded two double-doubles as the Tommies went 3-0 during their home tournament. The Woodbury, Minn. native hit .242 from the floor and averaged 4.5 points per set across the three-game stretch.
In the opening match against Tarleton State, Galvin produced 15 kills with no errors and tallied a .417 hitting percentage. The Tommie senior then registered her first double-double of the weekend against Valparaiso with 18 kills and 14 digs. The final match of the weekend against Northern Illinois saw Galvin produce her second double-double of the tournament with 15 kills and 10 digs.
Voegele surpassed the 1,000 career digs mark during the 3-0 weekend at the Tommie Invitational. She led the Tommies with 5.92 digs per set and her season average of 5.86 digs per set places her fourth among Division I players.
The Plymouth, Minn., native recorded the program’s second 30-dig match in the DI era against Valparaiso and totaled 71 digs during the Tommie Invitational. The Tommie junior also garnered 22 digs against Tarleton state and 19 digs against Northern Illinois.
