SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- South Dakota State outside hitter Sylvie Zgonc and North Dakota middle blocker Jarolin de los Santos Lugo are the first Summit League Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week this season, league officials announced Tuesday. Zgonc claimed her second career offensive honor, while De Los Santos Lugo nabbed her first defensive award.
 
Zgonc was named MVP of the Georgia State invitational and totaled 56 total kills and 5.60 kills per set as the Jackrabbits went 3-0 to start a season for the first time since 2010. The Hartford, Wis. native began her sophomore season hitting .414 and matched the South Dakota State record for kills in a three-set match with 25 against Florida A&M. She also led the Jackrabbits on the defensive end with 3.3 digs per set.
 
De los Santos Lugo totaled 19 blocks in the Fighting Hawks opening weekend of play at the Lobo Invitational. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native had seven total blocks and three digs in the season-opener against UC Irvine.

The UND senior then earned five digs along with six blocks in a thrilling five-set match against host New Mexico. She then produced six total blocks, including three-straight to close out the decisive fourth set, in a win against Tulane to round out the Lobo Invitational.

• Notched 13 kills and 11 digs in a sweep over Georgia State and added 18 kills, and a .429 hitting clip to go with eight digs in a four-set win over Indiana State 
• Collected the second offensive weekly award of her career

• Claimed the first career defensive peak performer of the week accolade
