#SummitVB Weekly Notebook: No. 2
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--All nine Summit League volleyball teams are in action this week across 10 different states. Omaha, Oral Roberts, North Dakota, St. Thomas, and North Dakota State will all host matches throughout the week.
The Jackrabbits, who started the season 3-0 for the first time since 2010 will travel to Illinois to take on Western Illinois and UIC on Friday followed by a match-up with Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday. The Coyotes will hit the road and head to Kentucky for a battle with Louisville on Friday, Northern Kentucky on Saturday, and Missouri on Sunday. Denver starts their week a little early with a Thursday afternoon game against Montana State. On Friday the Pioneers face off against The Citadel, and their week finishes with an inter-state battle against the Air Force Falcons on Tuesday.
Kansas City gets to travel down south to Texas and play matches against New Mexico, Houston Christian, and Howard. North Dakota will host SIUE, Northern Iowa and West Virginia throughout the Fighting Hawks weekend slate. North Dakota State will take on West Virginia and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at home.
The Tommies will start their second weekend of play at home in St. Paul with a matchup against Tarleton State on Thursday, Valparaiso on Friday, and Northern Illinois on Saturday. They will then travel across the state to take on the Minnesota Gophers on Tuesday. Omaha will play host for the second week in a row. The Mavericks open their weekend of play with Drake on Thursday and Oklahoma on Saturday. Their week will end with a trip out to California to take on Long Beach State on Wednesday. Oral Roberts gets to stay home and face off with Sam Houston and Bethune-Cookman on Friday, followed by Tulsa on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will end their competition week traveling to Arkansas to play Arkansas- Pine Bluff on Tuesday.

Around The League
• South Dakota, South Dakota State, Denver, Kansas City, and North Dakota all picked up victories during the opening stint of the women’s college volleyball season.
• South Dakota State started the season 3-0 for the first time since 2010.
• South Dakota leads the NCAA in kills per set (17.00) and assists per set (15.50) after two victories in Colorado Springs.
• NDSU’s Logan O’Brien earned a spot on the Fort Myers Classic All-Tournament Team after producing a team high 50 digs and averaging 3.85 digs per set.
• UND placed freshman Cala Cooper and junior Katy Riviere on the Lobo Invitational All-Tournament Team where the Fighting Hawks closed things out with a 3-2 win over Tulane.
• ORU senior Trinity Freeman surpassed 1,000 career kills in a match against Southern Illinois. She finished with 16 kills vs. the Salukis and had 45 total at the Alabama A&M Tournament.
• South Dakota State placed Sydni Schetnan, Rylee Martin, and Sylvie Zgonc on the GSU Invitational All-Tournament Team with Zgonc taking home the MVP award. Zgonc matched a program record with 25 kills against FAMU (three sets).
• St. Thomas’s Ella Voegele had a strong weekend garnering 58 digs in 10 sets (5.80 digs/set) to lead the Summit League.
• Kansas City’s Kaia Dunford had a double-double against Eastern Washington with 16 kills and 17 digs that helped secure a Roo victory.
• DU’s Briley Decker had 42 assists in a five-set win over Weber State.
• Omaha is 24
th in the nation after the first week of play with 27 team service aces across their three matches.
