SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha senior JJ White garnered the first Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor of his career, League officials announced Monday. White averaged 25.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.0 apg as the Mavericks improved to 7-0 in Summit play with victories over St. Thomas and Oral Roberts.
White capped the Mavericks’ 2-0 week with a career-high 35 points in an 84-76 victory at Oral Roberts. He went 8-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range vs. the Golden Eagles. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native also made a career-high 15 free throws, which were the most by a Summit League player in a game this season.
The league road win was the program’s fourth of the season, which is more than Omaha recorded in each of the past three seasons combined and pushed the program’s Division I-best overall winning streak to nine games.
In Thursday’s 89-78 win over the previously undefeated Tommies, White scored 15 points, dished out four assists and grabbed three rebounds. He finished the week shooting 65 percent from the field (13-for-20) and 62.5 percent from 3-point range (5-for-8).
