#SUMMITWBB Weekly Notebook: No. 12

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The back half of league action is quickly approaching and (RV/RV) South Dakota State has its sights set on continuing its winning streak and remaining undefeated in its league slate.
 
With a 17-3 overall record and a 7-0 league mark, the Jackrabbits hold the top spot in the CollegeInsider.com’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll for the third straight week with 29 first-place votes.
 
The week’s packed schedule kicks off today with a pair of games tipping off at 7 p.m. CT. The top two teams in the league standings, (RV/RV) South Dakota State and North Dakota State will meet in Brookings, S.D. to square off while Omaha travels to Tulsa, Okla., to meet Oral Roberts.

2025 Basketball Championships
The 2025 #SummitWBB Championship will be held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center once again. All nine members will be part of the field for the event that will be held March 5-9 in Sioux Falls. The opening round will feature matchups between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for both genders and start on Wednesday with both title games set for Sunday on CBS Sports Network. Tickets can be purchased now at Ticketmaster.
 
AROUND THE LEAGUE
  • South Dakota State continues to stand atop the league standings as the lone team undefeated with a 7-0 league record. They also hold a 17-3 overall record, are No. 1 in the CollegeInsider.com’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll and are once again receiving votes in both AP and USA Today/WBCA Coaches Polls.
  • Brooklyn Meyer continues to pace SDSU, averaging 18.0 ppg while shooting 77.3 percent in the wins over St. Thomas (83-76) and South Dakota (77-59). Meyer only took 22 shots to score 36 total points while also tallying 4.5 rpg and 1.5 bpg.
  • Latest Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week Abbie Draper averaged a double-double in a pair of games to help the Bison to victories over South Dakota (72-53) and in-state rival North Dakota (70-66).  She averaged a team-high 20.5 ppg and a team-best 10.5 rpg.
  • Oral Roberts is now 5-2 in league play and riding a three-game winning streak after a 74-61 road win over Kansas City. Taleyah Jones paved the way for ORU, finishing with 21 points, four rebounds, four assists and was instrumental in the fourth quarter, shooting 8-for-9 from the free throw line.
  • Kansas City holds a 4-3 league record after splitting last week’s competition. KC picked up a loss to ORU (74-61) but bounced back and beat Omaha 66-65 on the road. Alayna Contreras led the efforts for the Roos, averaging 26.0 ppg and 2.5 rpg. Highlighting her week was a career-high 32 points on 13-for-25 shooting from the field against the Mavericks.
  • St. Thomas is 2-5 in league action, splitting last week with a loss to South Dakota State (83-76) and a win over Denver (78-65). Amber Scalia led the charge for the Tommies, averaging 22.5 ppg and 6.5 apg while also going 7-for-13 from behind the three-point line.
  • The Tommies’ victory over Denver marked the 400th career win for head coach Ruth Sinn, making her the first female coach in St. Thomas history to reach the milestone.
  • Denver picked up its first win of league play defeating Omaha 71-56. In the win, the Pioneers saw two reach double figures in the scoring column. Jordan Jones led DU with 24 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Angelina Robles followed with 10 points.
  • North Dakota moved to 3-4 in league play after picking up a loss to in-state rival, North Dakota State (70-66). Jocelyn Schiller led UND in the loss, dropping 20 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
  • The Coyotes moved to 3-4 in league action after picking up losses to North Dakota State (72-53) and South Dakota State (77-59). In the two losses, Carley Duffney averaged 15.0 ppg and shot 50 percent from the field. She also totaled four rebounds and an assist.
  • Omaha extend its losing streak to six games after losses to Denver (71-56) and Kansas City (66-65). The losses moved the Mavericks to 1-6 in league play. In the pair of losses, Grace Cave averaged 20.0 ppg, 4.0 apg and 2.5 rpg. From the charity stripe, she was 8-for-10.
