SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – It is the best time of the year. Summit League play is in full swing for our women’s basketball teams with the journey for a regular season title continuing Thursday and Saturday this week.
(RV) South Dakota State, North Dakota State and Omaha were the only teams to come out of opening weekend without a loss and will look to continue that unbeaten streak through week two.
The Mavericks and the Jackrabbits are one of four matchups slated for Thursday. All four games tip off at 7 p.m. CT and can be viewed on the Summit League Network.

2025 Basketball Championships
The 2025 #SummitWBB Championship will be held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center once again. All nine members will be part of the field for the event that will be held March 5-9 in Sioux Falls. The opening round will feature matchups between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for both genders and start on Wednesday with both title games set for Sunday on CBS Sports Network. AROUND THE LEAGUE
- After starting league play on the road and picking up wins over Oral Roberts (81-76) and Denver (79-42), South Dakota State is once again receiving votes in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll and is No. 2 in the CollegeInsider.com’s Mid-Major Top 25.
- For the Jackrabbits, Haleigh Timmer was among the top three scorers for the Jacks in both road victories. She averaged 12.0 ppg to go along with 2.5 rpg.
- The Bison opened up league action with a 73-59 road win over St. Thomas. In the win, three Bison finished with double-figure points, led by Avery Koenen. The sophomore logged her third double-double of the season with a team-high 13 points and 11 rebounds.
- Omaha captured a 71-66 home win over North Dakota to open league play. Ja Harvey led the Mavericks against the Fighting Hawks with a career-high 24 points followed closely by Grace Cave and her 21 points. Harvey also added four rebounds, four steals and three assists to her stat line in the victory.
- Oral Roberts, ranked No. 20 in the CollegeInsider.com’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, split the opening weekend of league play with a tough five-point loss (81-76) to South Dakota State and an 82-70 win over South Dakota. Taleyah Jones led the offensive efforts for ORU averaging 24.0 ppg while shooting 52.3 percent from the floor in the two games.South Dakota was also 1-1 in the opening weekend of league play with a road win over Denver (77-71) and a loss in Tulsa to the Golden Eagles (82-70). Latest peak performer honoree, Grace Larkins, paced USD in both games averaging a double-double of 29.0 ppg and 12.5 rpg.
- North Dakota was on the road and split the weekend with a 71-66 loss to Omaha and a 63-60 win over Kansas City. Jocelyn Schiller shined during her league play debut with 22.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Highlight her week was a career-high performance of 28 points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals in the win over KC.
- Kansas City opened league action with a 76-69 road win over St. Thomas and a 63-60 loss at home against North Dakota. Emani Bennett, Alayna Contrearas and Tamia Ugass were the only Roos to finish in double-figures in both games. Bennett averaged a team-best 19.0 ppg on the week highlighted by her 26-point game on 11-for-17 shooting against St. Thomas.
- St. Thomas is 0-2 heading into the second week of league play after falling to Kansas City (76-69) and North Dakota State (73-59). Jo Langbehn, Jade Hill and Amber Scalia led the offense with Langbehn pacing UST. She averaged 17.0 ppg and shot 75 percent from the floor while adding 5.0 rpg and 3.0 apg to her stat line in the two losses.
- Denver put two tallies in the losses column after losing home games to South Dakota (77-71) and South Dakota State (79-42) during the opening weekend of league play. Jordan Jones was a force on the offensive end for the Pioneers averaging 20.0 ppg to go along with 5.5 rpg and 3.0 apg.
