#SummitVB Weekly Notebook No. 10

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State (16-3, 10-0 SL) currently leads the Summit standings, boasting an impressive undefeated conference record. This week, the Jackrabbits hit the road, first facing off against the Mavericks in Omaha, followed by a matchup against the Coyotes in Brookings on Saturday. The Tommies (14-6, 7-2 SL) are hot on their heels in second place, riding a four-game winning streak in league play.

Meanwhile, South Dakota (15-7, 7-3 SL) occupies third place. After a tough four-set loss to South Dakota State, the Coyotes rebounded strongly with victories over North Dakota State  Denver, and North Dakota

North Dakota State (12-7, 6-3 SL) and Denver (13-8, 5-5 SL) sit in fourth and fifth respectively, while Omaha (7-12, 4-6 SL) sits in sixth place. North Dakota (6-15, 3-7 SL), Kansas City (3-20, 2-8 SL), and Oral Roberts (2-20, 0-10 SL) round out the standings in seventh, eighth, and ninth.

With less than a month left in the regular season, the competition is wide open. The action kicks off this week with a series of exciting matches on Thursday night.

Around The League
• South Dakota State remains undefeated in conference play following a 3-0 week, improving to 10-0. 
• The Jackrabbits notched a season-high 75 digs in their four-set victory over Denver
• SDSU is rated 29th in the latest RPI rankings and is the fourth highest non-Power 4 conference team behind No. 10 Creighton, No. 24 UTEP, and No. 27 South Florida.
• St. Thomas took over sole control of second place in the Summit League standings after a 2-0 week with wins over Denver and Omaha.
• The Tommies posted a Division I era record with a .429 hitting percentage in their three-set victory over Omaha.
• South Dakota has won six of their last seven matches and have put together a three-game winning streak for the third time this season. 
• With 246 career victories, South Dakota head coach Leanne Williamson is just three wins shy of becoming the winningest coach in Summit history. Former Oral Roberts head coach Sheera Sirola holds the all-time record with 248 victories.
• Williamson is also three wins away from topping the list for most all-time Summit League wins. She enters this week with 144, which trails former IUPUI head coach Steve Payne (146) and Sirola (145).
• NDSU freshman Rya Borer has tallied 263 digs this season. During conference play, she ranks third in the league with 126 total digs, averaging 4.06 per set.
• Denver senior Ava Reynolds has accumulated more than 200 single-season kills for the second time in her career. She passed the 200 barrier during last week’s match against St. Thomas. 
• Omaha junior Emily Huss has recorded 109 total blocks on the season. She ranks 13th in the NCAA for total blocks and sixth in the NCAA with 1.58 blocks per set.
• UND senior Paige Barber recorded 12 kills in the loss to South Dakota, marking the 15th time that she posted a match-high in kills this year. 
• Kansas City ranks second in the Summit in total attacks and total digs at 2,841 and 1,200, respectfully. 
• Oral Roberts is one win away from its 1,000th in program history.
