#SummitWSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 9

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Two weeks into Summit League play, Oral Roberts sits at the top of the standings with a perfect 3-0 record and nine points. The Golden Eagles notched shutout wins against Omaha (2-0) and Denver (1-0), stretching their winning streak to five and improving their mark to 8-1-1 over their last 10 matches.
 
Denver, North Dakota State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State all earned one victory while the Golden Eagles were the only squad to put together two wins.
 
No. 3 South Dakota State travels to No. 2 Denver for a top-three showdown on Thursday night before returning to Brookings to host Omaha on Sunday. North Dakota will make the short trip to Fargo on Sunday for a matchup against in-state rival North Dakota State.

• Oral Roberts secured a pair of shutout road wins over Omaha (2-0) and Denver (1-0), extending their win streak to five while climbing to first place in the league standings.
• The Golden Eagles are the only Summit League squad to begin 3-0 while allowing a league-low one goal to opponents. Eirini Manoukaraki registered both of the cleansheets with six total saves on the week.
• Denver topped Kansas City 3-0 on Thursday before falling to Oral Roberts on Sunday, marking its first conference loss. The Pioneers sit second in the standings.
• The Pios’ win over the Roos was highlighted by three different goal scorers and assisters.
• South Dakota State’s Jenna Maloy recorded her first career brace on Sunday against North Dakota State to grab their eighth win of the season. The performance earned Maloy her second Offensive Peak Performer of the Week award of the season.
• The Jackrabbits outshot the Bison 17-3 in the matchup while also attempting eight corners compared to zero for NDSU.
• Omaha bounced back from their defeat against Oral Roberts (2-0) and took down St. Thomas on the road in a 3-2 thriller.
• The Mavericks went down 2-0 before piling three consecutive goals on the Tommies with Lauren Schmidt notching the game-winner in the 85th minute.
• The Yotes split the weekend with a 4-3 loss vs. North Dakota State and a victory over North Dakota.
• Redshirt freshman Klarissa Vega scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season for South Dakota in the win over UND, pushing her to second place in the conference for points (16) and goals (7).
• North Dakota State gathered their first league win of the season and snapped their five-game losing streak against South Dakota.
• Junior Kendall Stadden scored in the 83rd minute to take the 4-3 lead over the Yotes and the Bison held on for the victory. The goal was the second of the match for Stadden, marking her fourth of the season.
• North Dakota earned a 2-2 draw at South Dakota State on Thursday night before falling to USD on Sunday afternoon 2-1. The Fighting Hawks continue their road stretch at North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12.
• In the 2-2 draw with the Bison, forward Charlie Basinet notched her team-leading sixth goal of the season to level the match in the 82nd minute.
• The Roos have an opportunity to snap their two-game skid with a homestand against South Dakota on Thursday night before facing the Tommies on Sunday afternoon.
• St. Thomas faces top-seeded Oral Roberts Thursday night on the road before travelling to Kansas City on Sunday.
• The Tommies’ backline is led by graduate goalkeeper Olivia Rowe. Rowe leads the conference in saves with 69.
