#SummitMSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 8
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Clarity is not one of the words one could describe after seeing the results from the opening two weekends of Summit League men's soccer action. Six teams share the top spot with three points a piece. Delaware is the only team without a loss, while five others are all level at 1-1
Even though its a muddied mess right now, the standings will begin to clear up some following another action-packed weekend.
The Blue Hens are among a dozen teams nationally that have yet to suffer a loss but they will get one of their toughest tests of the season Saturday at Denver. The Pioneers are coming off a 2-1 road win at (14/20) Georgetown that will likely took a little sting away from their 2-1 defeat to UMass in what was a rematch of an NCAA Touranment quarterfinal match from a season ago.
UMass will look to make it two straight Summit wins as they travel to Omaha, who like the Minutemen, Pioneers, Roos and Tommies, is 1-1 in Summit play following a 1-0 blanking at Kansas City.
The Roos are also gunning for back-to-back wins and will take on an Oral Roberts squad, who has dropped its only conference match, falling 2-1 at St. Thomas last Saturday. The Tommies have the bye this week but will get some non-conference action in with a trip to North Carolina.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
• Delaware continued receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 poll, while cracking the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 poll at No. 24 this week.
• The Blue Hens have been off since Sept. 28 when they defeated LeHigh 3-1 to improve to 9-0-1.
• Sophomore Marius Stenner recorded his third brace of the season in that contest and earned his third Kwik Star Offensive Peak Performer of the Week nod for his efforts.
• UD heads to Denver this Saturday to face a Pioneer squad that rebounded from a 2-1 loss at UMass with a thrilling 2-1 upset of (14/20) Georgetown, capped by Luke Schultz’s game-winner with 16 seconds left.
• Schultz set up DU’s opening goal with a corner kick that was headed home by captain Trevor Wright just 55 seconds after Georgetown opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
• After falling to St. Thomas 2-1 in its Summit opener, Oral Roberts regrouped to take its Mayor’s Cup tilt with Tulsa Tuesday, getting a goal from Ronardo Burgher in the 80th minute.
• Burgher is now one of four Golden Eagles with two goals on the campaign as they have scored six goals in the past three matches after netting just five in their opening eight matches.
• Oral Roberts will play a Roos squad Saturday in Kansas City that pulled even at 1-1 in Summit play thanks to a 1-0 shutout of Omaha. Jeremy Francou scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 25th minute.
• Francou currently shares second among Summit players in goals (6) and points (15) with Delaware’s Mikey Johnson.
• The Mavericks, who are one of five Summit squads with a 1-1 league mark, face a UMass unit that also leveled its league play record with that 2-1 victory over Denver.
• The Minutemen built a 2-0 lead on goals from Magnus Halldorsson (30th minute) and Matt Cence (86th) before DU cut the lead in half with a tally by DU’s Erik Collins just 43 seconds later.
• Cence’s goal was his team-high fifth of the campaign for UMass.
• For Collins, his goal moved him into a share of the team lead with Kyle McGowan. With his three points against the Hoyas, Schultz now shares the team lead in that category with McGowan at eight.
• The Tommies have a break from league play as they travel to North Carolina to face the Tar Heels in a non-conference clash.
• St. Thomas fell behind 1-0 early to ORU but had pulled ahead by halftime thanks to tallies from Yanis Lakhlifi (28th minute) and Simon Klevberg (43rd), who scored his first goal as a Tommie.
