SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Jeremiah Burke claimed the initial Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week accolade of the season, league officials announced Tuesday. Burke’s weekly nod is the first of his career.
In his first season with the Pioneers, the graduate student averaged 19.7 ppg and 6.3 rpg as Denver opened the Tim Bergstraser era with three straight road games.
Burke and Pios capped that stretch with a thrilling 75-73 victory over Montana State. The 6-foot-7 forward scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and pulled down seven rebounds against the Bobcats to help DU rally from a 13-point deficit.
The Milwaukee, Wis., native opened the season with 21 points and nine rebounds at Seattle U and added 15 points and five boards at (RV/RV) Washington.
Burke hit double figures in all three contests after scoring 10-plus just twice in 43 career appearances over the past two seasons for North Dakota State. He ended the week shooting 51 percent from the field (21-for-41) and 47 percent from 3-point range (8-for-17).
