UST’s Minessale garners back-to-back Kwik Star #SummitMBB weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second straight week, St. Thomas guard Nolan Minessale garnered the  Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week accolade, league officials announced Tuesday. The back-to-back honors are the first of Minessale’s career.

In three games at the Portland Invitational multi-team event, the sophomore averaged 23.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg and 4.3 apg as St. Thomas picked up wins over Northern Colorado and the host Pilots.

In the opener vs. the Bears, Minessale finished with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists and his half-court heave at the buzzer lifted the Tommies to a 73-72 victory in a game they trailed by as many as 13 points.

The Brookfield, Wis., native added a season-high 26 points and went 10-for-10 from the foul line during an 88-80 loss to Cal-State Fullerton.

Minessale closed the tournament with his eighth straight 20-plus point scoring game as the Tommies earned the title with a 68-60 win over Portland. He finished with 24 points and a career-high five steals against the Pilots en route to claiming Tournament MVP honors.
