SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State forward Avery Koenen garnered the Summit League Women’s Basketball Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week award, league officials announced Tuesday. The honor marks Koenen’s first of the season and second of her career.
Koenen delivered her second double-double of the season in NDSU's 83-72 home win over Tulane, posting a team-high 22 points and a game-best 13 rebounds. The junior notched her second straight 20-point outing and added five assists and three steals to cap a standout all-around performance.
The Montevideo, Minn., native has guided the Bison to a 3–2 start through a challenging early schedule with NDSU now headed to Jacksonville, Fla., for the Osprey Thanksgiving Classic.
Through three weeks, her 18.4 ppg ranks third in the league while her 9.2 rpg sits fourth. Koenen has been remarkably efficient, shooting 73.9 percent from the field which is the second-best mark in Division I.
