UST’s Rudzitis and SDSU’s Burr earn the Kwik Star #SummitVB weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Thomas right-side Tezra Rudzitis and South Dakota State middle blocker Madison Burr were named the latest Summit League Kwik Star Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Rudzitis claimed her second offensive honor of the season, while Burr nabbed her second career defensive award.

Rudzitis topped the league in kills per set during a 1-1 weekend for St. Thomas. The Tommie senior tallied 28 kills, 4.67 points per set, and 4.92 points per set across a win over Kansas City and a loss to South Dakota. 
 
The Anoka, Minn., native racked up nine kills, 10 points, and two total blocks in a three-set loss to the Coyotes. Rudzitis then recorded a career high 19 kills with a .720 hitting clip against Kansas City. 
 
Burr led the league with 1.70 blocks per set and 17 total blocks across two five-set matches for the Jackrabbits. The 6-foot-1 sophomore ranks 27th in the country, averaging 1.35 blocks per set.
 
The Goodhue, Minn., native notched 15 kills, a .414 hitting clip, and nine total blocks in a five-set victory over Omaha. Burr then recorded eight blocks along with three digs, and five kills in a five-set victory against South Dakota. Six of the eight blocks came in the fifth set to help the Jackrabbits secure the victory over their in-state rival.
