SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the fourth time in five weeks this season, South Dakota State forward Brooklyn Meyer was named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. The weekly accolade is Meyer’s 10th of her career.
Meyer turned in another dominant week in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor while averaging 23.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 1.5 bpg. The senior forward opened the challenge by helping power an 87-56 home rout of Weber State on Wednesday, finishing with a game-high 19 points in only 21 minutes.
The Larchwood, Iowa, native topped her Weber State outing by pouring in 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting in an 88-72 road win at Northern Arizona. Meyer added six boards and a block in 27 minutes, while teammate Madison Mathiowetz matched her with 28 points to share game-high honors.
Meyer continues to pace the league in both scoring (22.2 ppg) and blocks (2.3 bpg), while also ranking seventh in rebounding at 7.4 rpg and fifth in assists with 3.2 apg.
With this week’s honor, Meyer became the first player since Kevi Luper of Oral Roberts in 2009-10 to earn the award four times within the season’s first five weeks.
