SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha forward Marquel Sutton secured the latest Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week honor, League officials announced Monday. The Maverick senior averaged 29.0 ppg in a pair of wins that helped Omaha clinch at least a share of the program’s first Summit League regular season title.
Sutton opened the week with a 22-point, four-rebound performance in a 78-66 road win at Kansas City. He went 8-for-14 from the field and connected on all three of his 3-point attempts against the Roos.
In the Mavericks’ title-clinching win over South Dakota, Sutton poured in a career-high 36 points on 14-of-20 shooting from the floor as Omaha posted a 93-85 victory. The Tulsa, Okla., native also pulled down 12 rebounds to post his sixth double-double of the season and ninth of his career.
Sutton finished the week shooting 65 percent from the field (22-for-34) and now has five straight games with 20-plus points. He now ranks third among Summit players in conference scoring at 21.4 ppg.
