MESA, Ariz. -- Denver's Clara Gestsdottir captured medalist honors for the second straight season at the 2025 Summit League Women's Golf Championship, leading the Pioneers to their sixth straight team title.
In her title defense, the senior from Iceland posted a closing 67 (-4) to claim Championship MVP honors for the second time in her career. She made four birdies and an eagle in her final loop at the Longbow Golf Club to finish with a 54-hole total of 209 (-4) and claim a five-stroke victory over St. Thomas senior Isabelle Lynch, who also posted a 67 on Tuesday.
Gestsdottir and the Pioneers extended their nine-stroke lead entering the final round into a 19-stroke victory over South Dakota State after posting a 281 (-3), which was the low-team score of the three-round event. DU finished with a total of 859 (+7).
After making back-to-back bogeys on holes 13 and 14, Gestsdottir responded with an eagle on the 15th hole to get those two strokes right back and cruise to the individual title.
The duo of Emma Bryant (216; +3) and freshman Logan Hale (217: +4) joined Gestsdottir on the all-tournament team. Bryant shared third after taking runner-up honors to Gestsdottir a season ago. She shared third with North Dakota State's Madison Hicks, who turned in a third-round 70 (-1) to earn an all-tournament team nod.
South Dakota State senior Shakira Kuys, who was also named the JLG Scholar of the Championship for having the highest cumulative GPA of the 40 competitors, led the Jackrabbits to their highest finish at the tournament since 2021 when they also finished runner-up to the Pioneers in Newton, Kan.
Kuys closed with a 73 (+2) to land on the all-tournament team with a 217 (+4) as she shared fifth with Hale and Omaha's Katie Ruge, who finished out her campaign with a 69 (-2).
The Jackrabbits posted a team score of 878 (+26) to hold off North Dakota State by four strokes. The Bison moved into third following their best round of the tournament as Hicks helped them post a 286 (+2) and finish at 882 (+30).
Oral Roberts (884; +32) took fourth after starting the day in second. Senior Avery Blake and Anna Swan tied for eighth to pace the Golden Eagles as those two turned in 54-hole totals of 218 (+5).
St. Thomas improved its team total after each round, closing with a 285 (+1) to take fifth place with a 890 (+38) total. South Dakota moved up a spot to finish sixth after the Coyotes posted the first even-par team score in program history with a 284 (E). Sophomore Ava Schroeder had the low round of the tournament to lead the charge for South Dakota, finishing with a 66 (-5). That scored tied for the third lowest in tournament history.
Omaha (901; +49) and North Dakota (915; +63) rounded out the team scoring. Ruge was the top finisher for the Mavericks, while Kylie Werner tied for 12th for the Fighting Hawks after closing with a 70 (-1) in a round that featured six birdies.
