SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League officials released the men's and women's schedules for the upcoming 2025-26 basketball seasons Tuesday with the opening games set to be played on New Year’s Eve.
For the second straight year, the League utilized a hybrid scheduling model for the men’s and women’s action that lessens mirror scheduling and maximizes travel efficiencies. All nine teams play each other in home and away matchups that will be played over four different days of the week and include some doubleheaders once again.
The first tilts of the 16-game League slate will be played on the final day of 2025 with Omaha playing at Kansas City on the women’s side and South Dakota playing at North Dakota State and Kansas City visiting Denver on the men’s side.
New Year’s Day will then feature three women’s games and two men’s games with First Bank & Trust Arena being the site of a Holiday doubleheader in Brookings featuring the defending regular season and tournament champion South Dakota State against St. Thomas in women’s action and Omaha, who swept the regular season and tournament titles on the men’s side for the first time in program history, facing SDSU in men’s action.
The Jackrabbit women bring a Summit League-record 63-game winning streak in Summit League play into the 2025-26 season. SDSU won its final 13 league games in 2021-22 and ran the table in each of the last three seasons (18-0; 2022-23, 16-0; 2023-24, and 16-0; 2024-25).
Also on New Year’s Day, the North Dakota State women will travel to Tulsa to face Oral Roberts in a contest that features two of the top three squads from a season ago and the North Dakota women will head to the Mile High City to play Denver.
The remaining action during the opening Holiday Weekend will see the Oral Roberts men pay a visit to North Dakota.
The two squads having to wait a little longer to their respective seasons underway on Saturday, Jan. 3, are the South Dakota women, who open at Kansas City and the St. Thomas men, who will play Denver in their new arena in St. Paul.

All nine members will participate in the men’s and women’s tournaments, which are starting once again on Wednesday with a women’s and men’s opening-round game. All 16 combined games of the tournaments will be aired linearly on either Midco Sports or CBS Sports Network.
