Around The League
• North Dakota continues their hot streak, securing a 4-0 start to the season after another undefeated week of action. The Fighting Hawks defended home turf and posted a pair of shutout victories over Eastern Washington and the University of Jamestown, winning 4-0 and 3-1, respectively. UND’s 4-0 start marks the first time since 2005 that the Fighting Hawks have soared to four straight wins to begin a season.
• Leading the way for North Dakota is the Summit League’s leading goal scorer (5) and point scorer (12) in Charlie Basinet. This past week, Basinet delivered her first career hat trick in the victory over Eastern Washington and added an assist against Jamestown. The San Diego, Calif., native is accompanied by Cora Ellermann who is tied for first amongst the Summit League’s assist leaders (3) and second place in points (9), only trailing her fellow teammate Basinet.
• Kansas City, Oral Roberts, and South Dakota State each departed the second week of action with two victories.
• The Roos’ two wins over in-state foes Missouri State (1-0) and Rockhurst (7-0) were powered by a hat trick from graduate transfer Delfina Zolesio. The hat trick was the first for the program since 2018 and the seven goals were the most under head coach Jessica Smith’s tenure.
• South Dakota State’s seven goals in their shutout win over Southwest Minnesota State was the most since defeating Wayne State 8-0 in 2018. The Jackrabbits’ eight assists were also tied for third most in a game in program history.
• League squads tallied a 10-3-4 ledger in the second week of play, going 7-1-1 at home and 3-2-3 on the road.
