SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — All nine Summit League volleyball programs will kick off their 2025 campaigns with tournament play spread across eight different states. North Dakota, North Dakota State, and Omaha will each host matches during opening weekend.
North Dakota State welcomes Bowling Green, Temple, and Saint Mary’s to Fargo, while North Dakota will face off against Temple and Saint Mary’s in Grand Forks. Omaha hosts Milwaukee twice to begin their season.
Denver travels west to California to take on USC in Friday’s opener, followed by a Saturday matchup against Loyola Marymount. Kansas City heads to the East Coast, where the Roos face Marshall and Radford on Friday, then Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
South Dakota State makes a short trip to Iowa, opening its season against Illinois and Northern Iowa. Oral Roberts ventures north to Idaho, squaring off against Idaho and Portland on Friday before meeting Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
South Dakota kicks off its season with a high-profile matchup against Oregon in Montana, followed by contests against Montana State on Saturday and Prairie View A&M on Sunday.
St. Thomas stays close to home, traveling just 15 minutes to Minneapolis to face Ball State on Friday, Cal Poly on Saturday, and the University of Minnesota on Sunday.

Around The League
• The 2025 season will see all four individual Summit League player award honorees return to their respective teams.
• Preseason favorite South Dakota State returns the 2025 Summit League Player of the Year Sylvie Zgonc, the Freshman of the Year Madison Burr, and 2025 All-Summit League First Team member Sydni Schetnan. Zgonc led the league with 494 kills and 4.37 kills per set while Schetnan led the league in hitting percentage, blocks, and blocks per set. The Jackrabbits ranked 14th in the nation a season ago in blocks per set (2.74)
• South Dakota’s Kamryn Farris earned the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2024 after leading all Summit League players with 565 digs and finished second in digs per set (4.75).
• The Coyotes also return 2024 honorable mention honoree Avery Van Hook who ranked first in the league with 1,208 total assists, and 19th in the nation in double doubles as well as All-Freshman Team honorees Morgan Bode and Lauren Medeck. The Coyotes ranked 25th in the nation in total digs (1960).
• Omaha brings back Summit League all-league first teamer Kali Jurgensmeier. She finished last season on a high note, tying her career high 19 kills in the NIVC game against Lindenwood.
• St. Thomas returns senior Megan Wetter and junior Morgan Kealy, who garnered All-Summit League first team honors a season ago. Kealy was voted Summit League Setter of the Year. The Tommies also return honorable mention honorees Tezra Rudzitis and Ella Voegele as well as All-Freshman Team honoree Addie Schmotzer.
• Denver returns All-Freshman Team honoree Jamia Johnson, libero Alayna Finucan, who finished third in the league in total digs (444), and Ava Reynolds, who ranked 11th in the league a season ago with 2.80 kills per set.
•North Dakota State brings back junior Lauren Jansen with her league-leading .45 service aces per set from a season ago. Jansen ranked 46th nationally in that stat.
• North Dakota libero/defensive specialist Izzie McCormick enters the season needing 308 digs to reach the 1,000-mark for her career.
• Kansas City redshirt sophomore Ledisi Kpea ranked ninth in the league a season ago with 0.97 blocks per set.
• Oral Roberts’ returns seven players from a season ago while bringing in eight newcomers as well as new coach Nolan Albrecht. Returner Rachel Resta ranked seventh in the league a season ago with 5.69 assists per set.
