#SummitWSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 6

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The tune-ups are nearly complete as seven Summit League squads have one more match of non-conference play this week. No. 1 in the conference standings North Dakota and No. 7 Denver have the week off to prepare for League action next week. Summit League teams tallied a combined 7-5-2 record last week as they fought through a tough slate of competition.

The Mavericks take on (RV) Colorado State at home in their final match of the non-conference. Omaha will look to be the second consecutive Summit League team to take down the Rams as Denver defeated No. 25 CSU 2-1 on Sept. 14.

Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, and South Dakota State all close non-conference play on home turf while Kansas City, North Dakota State, and St. Thomas each wrap up on the road.

Around The League
• North Dakota battled Boise State to a 0-0 result before taking down Idaho State 1-0 to snap their three-game skid and stay atop the Summit League standings.
• Midfielder Cora Ellermann delivered the lone goal of the weekend for the Fighting Hawks (her fourth of the year) while Defensive Peak Performer of the Week Grace Miller collected both clean sheets to boost her to first in the Summit League for shutouts (4).
• Offensive Peak Performer of the Week Julia Thasaphong steered Oral Roberts to a 3-1 victory over Little Rock on Thursday, notching every goal for the Golden Eagles in the second half to record her first career hat trick.
• Denver picked up a ranked victory over No. 25 Colorado State in the Mile High City on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers were powered to a 2-1 win by the foot of Emma Thielbahr, who recorded a pair of goals to collect her first career brace.
• DU has now defeated a nationally-ranked opponent in each of the last two seasons and captured their first home win against a nationally-ranked foe since August 29, 2019 (3-0 over No. 24 Texas).
• Omaha bounced back from a 3-2 loss at Creighton on Wednesday to handle Western Illinois 7-1 on the road. The match featured six different Mavericks finding the back of the net, with junior Emma Hampton scoring twice.
• The Mavs’ seven goals made for a historic night as they set a program high for goals in a game, breaking the previous record of six.
• St. Thomas will look to snap their three-game skid as they travel to Western Illinois on Thursday for their final non-conference match.
• The Roos won a thriller at Southeast Missouri State on Sunday in their only match of the week. With the match tied at three, redshirt junior Olivia Platt capitalized on a penalty kick in the 81st minute to secure the victory.
• After falling to Florida Atlantic 4-0, North Dakota State has the opportunity to secure a big victory at Washington State on Thursday to round-out non-conference play.
• South Dakota State and South Dakota both host matches against Wyoming Thursday and Sunday, respectively, as they prepare for League play.
